Obtaining a certification in psychiatric nursing can distinguish you from other applicants and verify your expertise in mental health care. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) provides the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification, which mandates a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical experience in mental health nursing and 30 hours of continuing education related to the field.
