Montefiore also prioritized community care, creating the first hospital-based Department of Social Medicine in 1950 and the Dr. Martin Luther King Health Center in 1966.
In the 1990s, Montefiore made clinical advancements, such as using Taxol for throat cancer treatment in 1991 and performing minimally invasive repairs of abdominal aortic aneurysms. Researching nursing schools
When researching nursing schools, it's important to go beyond the rankings and reputation. Look for programs that offer hands-on clinical experience, opportunities for specialization, and strong support systems for students. Consider factors such as faculty-to-student ratio, job placement rates, and access to cutting-edge technology.
Here are some additional factors to consider:
1- Accreditation
Make sure the nursing school is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). These accrediting bodies ensure that nursing schools meet high standards of quality.

5- Faculty
Consider the qualifications of the faculty at the nursing school. The faculty should have a strong track record of teaching and research, and they should be passionate about nursing education.
6- Location
Consider the location of the nursing school. If you are planning to work in a particular area, you may want to choose a school that is located in that area. However, you should also consider the reputation of the school and the quality of its programs.
7- Cost
Consider the cost of attendance at the nursing school. Nursing school can be expensive, so you will need to make sure you can afford the tuition and fees. You should also consider the availability of financial aid.

Preparing for licensing exams
Here are some tips for preparing for licensing exams, with images to enhance the content:
1. Know the material
Make sure you have a thorough understanding of the material that will be covered on the exam. This may involve reviewing your course notes, textbooks, and other study materials. You can also find helpful online resources, such as practice questions and study guides.
With the help of Smart'n, a quality NCLEX study tool, you gain access to over 2,500 practice questions as well as over 60 hours of case studies, along with answer guides.
The platform allows you to evaluate your critical thinking and clinical judgment skills through NGN NCLEX-style case studies, monitor your advancement, and assess your knowledge at each level. It will then generate particular quizzes to help you succeed on exam day.
Additionally, there is a two-month study calendar for you to manage your preparation.
2. Create a study plan
Develop a study plan that is realistic and achievable. Break down the material into manageable chunks and set aside dedicated time each day or week to study. Be sure to factor in breaks and time for other activities, such as exercise and socializing.
3. Use a variety of study methods
Don't just rely on one method of studying. Try a variety of methods, such as reading, writing, flashcards, and practice questions. This will help you to learn the material in different ways and make it more likely to stick.
4. Find a study group or partner
Studying with others can help you stay motivated and accountable. You can also quiz each other and discuss difficult concepts. A study group can also help you to make friends and feel less alone in the process of preparing for the exam.
5. Take practice tests
Practice tests can help you familiarize yourself with the format of the exam and identify areas where you need to focus your studying. Practice tests can also help you to improve your test-taking skills and manage your time effectively.
6. Get a good night's sleep before the exam
Being well-rested will help you to focus and perform your best on the exam. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep the night before the exam.
7. Eat a healthy breakfast on the day of the exam
This will give you the energy you need to focus for the duration of the exam. Avoid sugary cereals and processed foods, which can cause a crash in your blood sugar levels.
8. Arrive at the exam center early
This will give you time to relax and de-stress before the exam starts. Arrive at least 30 minutes early to allow time for check-in and to find your seat.
9. Read each question carefully
Make sure you understand what the question is asking before you answer it. Don't rush through the exam. Take your time and answer each question to the best of your ability.
10. If you get stuck on a question, skip it and come back to it later
Don't spend too much time on any one question. If you get stuck, skip it and come back to it later. There is no penalty for guessing, so it is better to guess and move on than to get stuck on one question and miss the rest of the exam.
11. Trust your instincts
If you've studied hard, you'll probably have a good gut feeling about which answer is correct. Go with your gut and don't overthink the questions.
12. Stay calm and positive
You can do this! Believe in yourself and your ability to pass the exam. Stay positive and focused, and you will do your best.
