#2 Best overall NCLEX prep: Nursing.com
Nursing.com NCLEX test prep courses include 300+ on-demand video lessons, cheat sheets, an eBook, 6,000+ practice questions, and simulated exams.
Nursing.com impressed us not only with the extensive amount and variety of review materials but also with their exceptional quality. One aspect we particularly appreciated was the concise and easily understandable nature of their video lessons, which are only 10 minutes long. These lessons incorporate visually appealing graphics and diagrams, making them especially beneficial for visual learners.
What sets Nursing.com apart is that the instructors are practicing nurses who provide invaluable tips and tricks for successfully passing the NCLEX, along with real-life practical advice.
In addition to the video lessons, you will have access to a range of invaluable study tools provided by Nursing.com. These include informative visual diagrams, comprehensive outlines, concise cheat sheets featuring mnemonics, and, most importantly, practice problems. The extensive Qbank consists of over 6,000 problems, which proves immensely beneficial and allows you to create customized quizzes at your convenience.
Undoubtedly, the highlight of the Nursing.com course is its exclusive SIMCLEX. Serving as an adaptive NCLEX simulator, it closely mirrors the real exam experience. As you progress through the test, the questions intelligently adjust in difficulty based on your performance, mimicking the actual exam conditions. Furthermore, after each question, you will find a well-crafted answer explanation to enhance your understanding.
#3 Best NCLEX live classes and NCLEX prep course: Kaplan
When it comes to the quality of NCLEX study material, Kaplan is considered a close runner-up to Nursing.com. Similar to Nursing.com, Kaplan provides highly realistic practice materials that closely resemble actual NCLEX problems. The accompanying explanations are of high quality, although they can sometimes be overly detailed.
Furthermore, Kaplan excels in providing simulated exams that effectively mirror the adaptive nature of the actual NCLEX. Replicating the AI-driven functionality of the NCLEX in preparation materials can be challenging for test preparation companies, but Kaplan accomplishes it exceptionally well. Their program genuinely resembles the real exam in terms of appearance and experience.
Additionally, I find Kaplan's video lessons to be highly valuable. However, the standout feature of the Kaplan course, and the reason it ranks highly on our list, is its exceptional series of live classes. No other NCLEX prep company, not even Hurst, offers class sessions of this caliber.
#4 Best NCLEX review course: UWorld
Students can sign up for UWorld NCLEX online nursing programs and courses. This particular course sets itself apart from other preparation courses we reviewed. UWorld distinguishes itself as an in-depth question bank rather than a traditional "prep course."
The UWorld NCLEX course offers a comprehensive collection of 2,100 practice questions. These practice questions are accompanied by excellent answer explanations, which are further enhanced by the inclusion of relevant images that help clarify the context of the questions. For individuals who prefer learning through practice questions, this course presents an excellent choice.
An additional noteworthy feature of this course is its flashcard functionality. Students have the flexibility to personalize their study sessions and utilize enhanced filtering options to focus solely on the topics they wish to cover during each session.
While this course may not fit the conventional mold of a preparation course, it remains an exceptional choice for students who prefer a practice-oriented learning approach.
#5 Best value NCLEX review course: Nurse Plus Academy
Nurse.plus offers NCLEX review courses and the best NCLEX test prep materials for both the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exams.
The primary focus of this course revolves around engaging in practice questions and taking practice tests to enhance and reinforce students' knowledge of various subjects. To ensure user-friendliness and reduce intimidation, the course is organized into different topics and subtopics.
The practice questions are presented with a visually appealing user interface that incorporates advanced technology. Progress can be tracked on the left-hand side, enabling users to identify correct and incorrect responses. Additional features, such as hints, answer popularity, night mode, and more, can be toggled on for an enhanced experience.
All practice questions come with detailed answer explanations, allowing users to understand the rationale behind correct and incorrect choices. An intriguing feature called the "challenge bank" collects all the incorrectly answered questions, providing an efficient means of reviewing and revisiting areas of difficulty.
The course also includes practice questions for the "Select All That Apply" (SATA) format. These questions require selecting multiple answer choices for correct responses.
Furthermore, the course offers full-length NCLEX practice exams, which are exceptionally well-crafted and considered one of its standout features. These exams can be taken multiple times, featuring different sets of questions on each attempt.
The simulated exams closely mimic the actual NCLEX exam and employ computer adaptive technology (CAT) similar to the real test. The practice exam determines whether a user passes or fails using the same criteria as the official exam.
Lastly, users have the option to utilize flashcards for additional practice and a different approach to studying the course material.

A notable aspect of this course is its effective assessment of a student's knowledge following the study of specific topics. Post-lecture quizzes are available to ensure comprehension of the material. This feature serves as a valuable tool for evaluating understanding.
Another impressive feature of this course is the inclusion of an automated checklist. This checklist serves as a helpful guide, keeping track of completed tasks and ensuring that students stay on track with their studying progress.
#7 Most realistic NCLEX questions: Princeton Review
Princeton Review secures a prominent position on our list of the best NCLEX review courses for various compelling reasons. However, one key advantage sets them apart: Princeton Review has acquired nearly 2,000 practice problems directly from the NCSBN, the creators of the exam.
Out of the extensive collection of approximately 3,500 practice questions provided by Princeton Review (more than what most other prep companies offer), over half of them are official problems. This distinctive feature is unparalleled among other review courses and grants Princeton Review a significant edge.
Furthermore, when it comes to live classes, we were highly impressed by Princeton Review's newly introduced live classes. Setting them apart from certain other preparation courses, these classes are conducted by knowledgeable NCLEX tutors who possess exceptional expertise in the subject matter.
The lesson plans for these classes demonstrate careful consideration, offering comprehensive and thorough coverage of the topics. Moreover, they include an abundance of sample problems that effectively illustrate how theoretical concepts are applied in practical scenarios on the NCLEX exam.
